Two mobile police officers teared up when the bodies of the latest attack victims were lined up at the Plateau State Government House.
When gunmen suspected of being Fulani militias attacked in the early hours of Wednesday, almost 30 people were slain. Angry teenagers attacked the Plateau Specialist Hospital, where the victims’ bodies had been stored, and evacuated them onto a van.
The bodies were eventually taken to the State House of Assembly by the protesting youngsters, who blocked all highways leading to the area.
Despite the Speaker of the House’s appeal for calm, the teenagers were dissatisfied with the answer and marched to Government House, where the victims’ bodies were on display.
Emeka Emmanuel Nwankwo, a University of Jos graduate living in the city, tweeted images of the two mobile police officers crying softly during the protest.
