The Kano Hisbah Board has given an insight into why the board gives different treatment when dealing with the rich and the poor in society.
This comes after they were fired for ignoring wedding events involving the rich, with the most recent one being the ‘revealing’ wedding dresses of the bride of Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Explaining this, one of the directors of the board, Aliyu Kibiya in a recent radio interview indicated that when it comes to Islam, publicly criticizing a leader is considered a crime.
In his submission, he said;
“Although we call on everybody in the society to do the right thing, but we make the call on case by case basis. It is against the tenets of Islam to mount the podium and call out leaders. There are ways to caution a leader without criticizing him in public.”
