Gunmen Attack Vigilante Office, Two Personnel Killed, Patrol Vehicles Burnt In Enugu State Community.
Armed hoodlums who have yet to be identified attacked the Neighbourhood Watch Group’s office in Ogurute, Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In the early hours of Tuesday, two security men, including a vigilante commander named Chinedu Urama, were killed in an attack. The assailants also set fire to the office and patrol vehicles. Meanwhile, CP Abubakar Lawal, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, has ordered a complete investigation into the incident, saying that the culprits will not be pardoned.
When the Commissioner came to the office for an on-the-spot evaluation of the attack, he gave the order. The CP expressed condolences to the families and friends of those who had died, and wished those who were hospitalized a speedy recovery.
He called the attack “senseless” and directed the State CID to conduct a complete investigation to find and prosecute the perpetrators.
In a statement, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the command’s spokesperson, said three people suspected of being involved in the act have been arrested and are cooperating with the inquiry.
