Governor Akeredolu Explained That Herders Are Becoming Problematic, They’ll Pay For Attacking, Razing Ondo Community

Governor Akeredolu Explained That Herders Are Becoming Problematic, They’ll Pay For Attacking, Razing Ondo Community.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has vowed that he will not back down until the herdsmen who allegedly attacked and set fire to Molege community in the state’s Ose Local Government Area are apprehended.

Akeredolu, who traveled to the village to assess the extent of the damage, said the herdsmen had become a nuisance and that the attack had been regrettable.

Last week Thursday, suspected Fulani herders assaulted the rural village, killing three individuals and destroying their homes. Residents of the hamlet claimed that a group of roughly 50 herders, armed with Ak-47 rifles, lay siege to the community after preventing them from grazing their cows on the community’s farmlands.

While expressing condolences to the people for the loss of their loved ones, especially the community leader who was also slain in the attack, the governor stated that concerted measures will be made to guarantee that similar attacks do not occur again in the state.

He said: “But you have to be prepared. These herdsmen are becoming too problematic. We are not sleeping. You can see Police and Amotekun here. With this one they have done, we will ensure that it is their last evil act here.

“I want to assure you, don’t be scared. We are still on their track. They have ran to Edo now. But for the houses that were raised down, government will bring relieve material. We will rebuild the ones that were razed completely.”
