Following the death of Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan, President Buhari has ordered that the national flag be flown at half-mast

Following the death of Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan, a former Head of the Interim Government, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that the national flag be flown at half-mast.

On Tuesday night, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), communicated the President’s instruction. Buhari issued the order, which will be in effect from Wednesday, January 12th, to Friday, January 14th, as a mark of respect for the former President, who died on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022, at the age of 85.

On August 26, 1993, Shonekan took over from Babangida, but his government was overthrown on November 17, 1993, by the late General Sani Abacha.
