EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa Tells Students Saying No Shortcut To Wealth, EFCC Will Catch You If You Engage In Fraud.
Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa has urged Nigerian youths to shun ostentatious and flamboyant lifestyles without any legal business to back up the lifestyle.
The EFCC made it known to the Nigerian youths that they would go after them if they find any shred of evidence against them engaging in cyber crime.
Bawa advised the youths to embrace hard work and good morals to make legitimate money and not fall prey to the temptation to engage in fraudulent activities.
Bawa made his submission at the Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, the Kogi capital.
He said: “There is no shortcut to wealth and fame. Everybody wants to live large and big. Our society is fond of glorifying ‘the affluent and the corrupt’. In fact, we celebrate them. Nobody is asking questions on how they come about their wealth!
“The moment you are rich you become a celebrity and people want to model their life after you. This is really sad and unfortunate! The society must stop this attitude, for our country to move forward.”
Bawa also called for support from Nigerians to tackle the menace of cybercrime and its related activities.
“There are laws that forbid cybercrime. The government has enacted several laws and backed them up with procedures of enforcement. The laws are going to be strictly enforced on all offenders”, he added.
