Ayiri Emami Reacts To Monarch’s Decision To Disrobe Him Says I Don’t Recognize Him As Olu Of Warri, Any Declaration From Him Is Not Binding On Me.
The decision of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to disrobe billionaire businessman Ayiri Emami as the Ologbotsere of Warri kingdom has been rejected.
On Tuesday, October 5, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse ll, declared Emami’s disrobing as the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom. As a result, the monarch ordered Higson Ajofotan Oporokun, the Olori-Ebi of Ologbotsere family, to assume leadership of all family operations until further notice.
In response to this event, Ayiri said that the Olu’s decision is not binding on him since he does not accept his authority because the case he filed against him is still pending in court.
”I don’t recognise him as Olu of Warri. So, any pronouncement by him is not binding on me. We have a case in court and until that case is determined, I won’t recognise him” he said
During the reign of the former Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, Emami, a rich businessman, held the title of ‘Ologbotsere’ and served as prime minister of the kingdom. He was adamant in his opposition to the new Olu, claiming that because to his maternal ancestry, he was unfit to succeed to his fathers’ throne.
