The Lagos State Government has appoint the Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, as the Oniru-elect of Iruland.
Lawal is also a previous aide-de-camp to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
A declaration by Mr Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday explained that Lawal’s appointment was signed during the State Executive Council meeting where final ratification was made on his nomination.
The statement added that the appointment takes immediate effect from Friday afternoon.
The new emperor will certainly succeed the former Oniru of Iruland, the late Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru, who passed on after a brief health problem on September 23, 2019 at the age of 82.
There had been a tussle among some royal families over who would succeed the late emperor.
