The Chairman, Parliamentary Caucus of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon. Ayotunde Fatokun, on Friday, stated that the House is readied to review existing legislations on sex-related cruelty and set more stringent penalty.
Barakat Bello, up until her demise, was a National Diploma undergraduate studying Science Laboratory Technology at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production, Ibadan.
He explained that it was crucial for citizens to uphold government by exposing bad doers and offenders in their neighborhood to law enforcement agencies.
As an approach to frustrate rising situations of rape and various other cruelty against females in Oyo State, Fatokun divulged that there is continuous inter-committee legal business with the House Committee on Women to properly scrutinise existing legislation and review it where suitable.
Fatokun made this statement in the wake of the terrible gang rape and murder of Miss Barakat Bello in Akinyele location of the state.
The lawmaker, who represents Akinyele Constituency 1, talked briefly after sympathizing and checking out with Bello family members.
